Karori Community Centre & Venue
The Karori Community Centre, situated at 7 Beauchamp Street in Wellington, serves as a vibrant and inclusive hub for residents of all ages and backgrounds. Owned by the Wellington City Council and operated by a dedicated incorporated society, the centre offers a welcoming space for social interaction, education, and community support.
The facility boasts eight versatile rooms available for hire, accommodating groups ranging from 6 to 90 individuals. Each space is equipped with tables and chairs, and additional equipment such as an Epson projector, portable PA system, and extra-large LCD television can be rented to enhance events.
A diverse array of regular activities takes place at the centre, including exercise classes like "Steady as You Go," tai chi, and yoga; creative pursuits such as fabric reuse workshops and ukulele sessions; and social gatherings like indoor bowls and community meals. The Karori Youth Centre, catering to individuals aged 11–18, offers after-school programs featuring table tennis, art, cooking, and leadership development opportunities.
Additional services include a Citizens Advice Bureau, providing assistance on various issues, and a Justice of the Peace available for document witnessing. The centre is fully accessible, with wheelchair access and lifts to the second floor, and offers on-site parking for 12 vehicles.
