Matamata Racing Club
Thirteen race meetings per season, including its premier Breeders’ Stakes in February and an October feature
race- day, are staged by the Matamata Racing Club on the left-handed track.
As well as Matamata’s own racing schedule, the South Waikato Racing Club conducts its popular annual race meeting at the Matamata course.
The MRC also operates a highly successful training centre, with an average of more than 700 horses prepared on the course in any month of the year.
In recent years the MRC has undertaken an extensive programme to construct five on-site stable barns, with 152 horses now accommodated there.
Facilities are available for non-raceday activities, ranging from indoor functions such as weddings and funerals, as well as outdoor gatherings.
