Howick Historic Village
Howick Historical Village is a living history museum located in Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pakuranga, Auckland. Spanning seven acres of heritage gardens, the Village authentically recreates a colonial settlement from 1840 to 1880, offering visitors an immersive glimpse into early settler life. The site features over 30 original and reconstructed buildings, including fencible cottages, a schoolhouse, a church, a blacksmith’s forge, and a general store, each furnished with period-appropriate artifacts.

On scheduled “Live Days,” costumed volunteers demonstrate traditional crafts such as butter churning, candle making, and blacksmithing, bringing the past vividly to life. The Village also hosts workshops and educational programs tailored for schools and groups, emphasizing hands-on learning about New Zealand’s colonial heritage.
